The Schaeffler Group, one of the world’s leading automotive and industrial suppliers, has successfully mastered the worst economic crisis in recent times and returned to its usual strength faster than expected. The company is availing from a fresh strengthening of demand in the automotive and industrial sectors.
The Schaeffler Group is strengthening its capital markets communications and is setting up a dedicated Investor Relations unit which will be headed by Christoph Beumelburg (42). He will take up this new position on October 1, 2010 and will report directly to Klaus Rosenfeld, Chief Financial Officer of the Schaeffler Group.
Loud chatter from the transmission, reduced transmission life and severely limited driving comfort coupled with travel noise that makes having a conversation inside the vehicle impossible are just some of the few unpleasant side effects caused by uninsulated torsional vibrations the automobile industry would have to deal with if it did not have components in the drivetrain that damp vibration.
The Schaeffler Group will invest around EUR 300 million in Asia during the next few years in order to systematically further develop its existing operations there. One the one hand, the investment will be used to develop the existing eleven manufacturing locations in China, India, Korea and Vietnam and on the other, manufacturing capacity will be expanded in China with two new factories for rolling bearings and engine and transmission components, and in India with one new manufacturing location.
The Schaeffler Group and the Henan University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China have intensified their cooperation with the signing of an initial contract about joint development projects. A delegation from the university lead by Professor Dr. Zhili Zhou, Vice President of the HUST visited Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt last week in order to familiarize themselves with the company’s central locations.
The Schaeffler Group has with effect from 28 June 2010 consolidated its operational businesses and its stake in Continental AG under a corporation called Schaeffler GmbH based in Herzogenaurach. Schaeffler GmbH will function as a management holding for the operational businesses of the Schaeffler Group. It is wholly owned by the Schaeffler family.
Toyota Mercosur (Toyota South America) has once again presented an award to the Schaeffler Group for outstanding quality. During the “8th Mercosur Toyota Achievement Conference”, Toyota’s conference for suppliers in South America, Schaeffler Brazil received the “Quality Achievement Performance Certificate”.
